Last Monday afternoon I stumbled and fractured my left wrist. The x-rays taken showed that my fracture is called smith fracture. It is a fracture of the distal radius. The radius is the larger of the two bones in the arm. The end of the radius bone toward the hand is called the distal end. A smith fracture is also associated with something called palmar angulation of the distal fragment. This means the fractured piece of bone is displaced towards the direction of the palm.
I’m busy with calls from the hospital and hospital visits in preparation for surgery next Wednesday. I hope the surgery will not throw me back into the pain I had until yesterday, so that I feel able to continue with writing here from next week on. I will see.
